A SOLSTICE Labex PhD student, Kuo Zeng, has won 2016 National Excellent Self-funded Oversea Students scholarship program. He was selected among 13 candidates in France and 500 candidates worldwide.
A ceremony is organized on 11 March 2017 in Chinese Embassy in Paris.
Kuo Zeng has prepared his PhD on solar biomass pyrolysis in the framework of a collaboration between PROMES and RAPSODEE (France). The model was developed in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Development in Process Engineering, Biotechnology and Alternative Energies (PROBIEN, CONICET - UNCo), 1400 Buenos Aires St., 8300 Neuquén, Argentina.
OPTICAL MANAGEMENT OF RADIATION IN SOLAR ENERGY CONVERTERS : THEORETICAL MOTIVATION, PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION, SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL CHALLENGES

Goal : Achieving high solar to electricity conversion necessarily requires an efficient absorption of the incoming sunlight, but also a proper control of the light re-emitted by the absorber, independently of its nature (thermal or photovoltaic). This topic currently instigates a strong research effort in these 2 communities, as well as in our laboratories. In this Workshop, we propose to address different aspects of this question (theoretical motivation, practical implementation, scientific and technologic challenges...), for both the thermal and photovoltaic technologies. Besides the purely educational interest, this Workshop will allow us to understand how this question of optical management in solar energy converters is treated in two different scientific communities.

- CSP2 (Concentrated Solar Power in Particles) coordinated by PROMES.
