Perpignan

PROMES laboratory Odeillo is located at the Four Solaire d’Odeillo, in the commune of Font-Romeu, famous for its exceptional sunshine (Font-Romeu is reputed to be the sunniest resort in France). Font-Romeu is the lighthouse of the Cerdagne, this vast plateau (Regional Natural Park since 2004) that it dominates. Just a stone’s throw from Barcelona, Toulouse, Perpignan, and Andorra, it is known by the world’s greatest sportsmen and women because it has been a famous training center for the physical preparation of sportsmen and women since the Olympic Games of Mexico 1968. It is also a university site through the STAPS of the University of Perpignan, and a village that offers many facilities.
In winter, alpine and cross-country skiing are practiced in Font-Romeu and in the ten or so resorts located less than an hour away. In summer, Font-Romeu, surrounded by wonderful landscapes, lends itself perfectly to hiking or outdoor activities: climbing, trout fishing, mountain biking, canyoning….

PROMES laboratory Perpignan is located in a building in the Tecnosud area, 2 km from the University and 4 km from the city center. Perpignan is a city of 115,000 inhabitants located in the Roussillon plain between the Mediterranean (12kms) and the Pyrenees (45kms). Montpellier, Toulouse or Barcelona are less than 2 hours away by freeway. The richness of the architectural heritage will seduce history lovers: from the prehistoric museum of Tautavel to the modest church, passing by the cloisters, abbeys and priories, the medieval villages, towers, fortresses or palaces. Many artists have celebrated the region: the sculptor Aristide Maillol, the painters Matisse, Derain, Dali, Picasso, the musician Pau Casals. In terms of leisure activities, there is something for everyone: activities related to the sea, activities related to the mountains, golf courses, but also relaxation in the thermal spas and thalassotherapy centers, discovery of nature (11 nature reserves),…
