Characterization of the solar resource of the site (weather station)

The experiments carried out in the solar oven of Mont-Louis and then in Odeillo showed that a precise exploitation of the results required the knowledge of the solar radiation. For that, successively, the two sites were equipped with various meteorological sensors such as pyranometers or pyrheliometers.

In 1969, a real meteorological station was born at the solar oven of Odeillo. In 1971, it becomes the third station of France by the importance of its installations of measurements of the solar radiation.

Over the years, the number of devices increases with the acquisition of various sensors such as pyrgeometers, radiometers, anemometers, rain gauges, etc…

In 1980, the laboratory signed an agreement with Météo-France in order to homogenize the data with those of the National Meteorology on solar radiation.

A campaign of renovation and refocusing of the activities of the station is carried out in June 1996; it aims to integrate computer management, automatic and thus allows the improvement of the quality and archiving of measurement data.
